Fundraisers for Palestine
October 2024: Palestine Bingo Night
For my 25th birthday, I organized a Bingo Night fundraiser for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF). I received sponsorships from local businesses and pro-Palestine brands such as LUSH, which provided the event with free prizes for our Bingo winners.
Collectively, our donors raised $500 for the PCRF. Pictures and more information to come!
September 2024: Read-a-Thon for Palestine
Over Labor Day Weekend 2024, Andy Bean (@andyjbean) and I (@alisyareza) organized a 24-hour Instagram read-a-thon to raise funds for Ahmad Bardawil’s family in Palestine. Merging Alisya’s non-profit fundraising + social media experience and the two organizers’ collective networks, we completely filled out our first incentive board in 10 hours.
Collectively, our donors raised $650 for Ahmad’s family to evacuate Gaza and join Ahmad in Egypt.
our research + vetting process
we found this fundraiser through @fundsforgaza, an instagram account endorsed by @letstalkpalestine, a platform and team covering verified worldwide news on the israel occupation of Palestine and current attacks on gaza. funds for gaza regularly features a rotating list of GoFundMe accounts by Palestinians and their loved ones + allies in other countries. while there are plenty of Palestinian individuals and families posting their GoFundMe accounts on Instagram, we felt that going off of Funds for Gaza recommendations for this fundraiser would allow you to have more confidence in the validity and direct impact of your donations. we still encourage you to make individual donations to other GoFundMes from Palestinians!
why gofundme?
while in the past both andy and alisya have donated to non-profits and organizations including UNRWA, it’s pretty evident that israel is blocking (and threatening + attacking) most, if not all, forms of foreign or institutional aid. we feel that donating directly to GoFundMes would ensure that your donations are going directly to Palestinians themselves and that your funds immediately support those who need it on the ground.
What’s Next?
We would not be here without the continued support of our community and our donors — thanks to your support, we’ll be back for an in-person Bingo Night Fundraiser on Saturday, October 19! Stay tuned for future fundraisers, both in-person and online.
